FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

After 5 years of hiring and creating Silent Disco parties, we’ve gathered a number of questions that we regularly receive. We hope that the FAQ below answers any queries, however you can email or call us if you have any other questions.

WHAT IS A SILENT DISCO?

A SILENT DISCO is an event where people dance to music listened to on wireless headphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via a radio transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants.

There can usually be up to 3 channels transmitted and these can be selected by a switch on the users headphone.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It is very simple. We use state of the art fully rechargeable LED silent headphones with transmitters to give a great level of sound quality.

The music source is then plugged in to the transmitter and away you go, you can have up to 3 transmitters running three separate music sources. The headphone user can switch between three channels to choose what they want to hear.

DO I NEED POWER?

The only power required is mains for the transmitter (1 socket per transmitter) The headphones are fully charged with 10 hours of power. Due to the extensive range of the transmitters (up to 500m) you can power up and connect the transmitters near a convenient power source without interrupting the party!

HOW LONG DO THE HEADPHONES LAST?

The Headphones contain efficient lithium batteries which last 10 hours. More than enough time for an occasion, however we do hire out usb headphone chargers also in case you want a top up!

DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT? WHAT HAPPENS IF I DAMAGE / BREAK SOMETHING?

As part of the terms and conditions of hire, we require a refundable deposit to cover in the event of any damages or missing items on return. The amount required varies depending on what is being hired. The number of cases are extremely rare however in the event of this, the charges are deducted from the deposit ( list of charges available from our Terms & Conditions)

WHAT IS THE RANGE OF THE TRANSMITTERS / HEADPHONES?

The transmitters have a range of up to 500 metres for 3 channels to transmit to the LED Headphones.

CAN I CONNECT MY OWN MUSIC?

Yes, you can use your own music devices. We supply aux audio leads with lightning cable adapters for phones/ipods. We also can supply phono audio cables for DJs. We offer our fully loaded iPods from £25 each with personally curated playlists including Motown & Soul, 80s, 90s, 00s, Current Chart, Old School Dance/R’n’B, Indie Anthems & Kids hits and party. We can also supply DJ packages with 1 DJ and 2 iPods or 2/3 DJs. No order too big or small.

WHY IS A SILENT DISCO GREAT AT WEDDINGS?

It absolutely does! In fact there are so many reasons that

  1. A unique choice! Why not add something a little different to your big day? A great way to help your wedding stand out from others

  2. Fun for all ages. With a choice of 2/3 channels, you can cater for varied music tastes whilst having music you enjoy. The LED headphones look great and lets everyone know your channel of choice!

  3. Ideal for all locations. A great reason for having a silent disco is that it doesn’t have the noise restrictions that Bands or DJs have at many wedding venues. If the venue allows, we have had many couples carry on their party after hours!

  4. Peace & Quiet at a party! For those who don’t enjoy dancing, they no longer have to sit somewhere else to have a conversation. There’s no loud music to shout over, so they can stay in the heart of the action and catch up.

  5. Never miss a moment! The completely wireless headsets can pick up signals from up to 500 metres away. So even if you have to pop to the bathroom or head outside for some fresh air, you won’t miss a beat

WHY CHOOSE A SILENT DISCO?

Obviously, we think that Silent Disco’s are the BEST thing ever! However here’s some reasons why you should get involved!

  1. Cater for everyone’s music taste - Worried about pleasing everyone at a party or can’t decide on what music to have? With up to 3 channels being transmitted to your headphones, you can please everyone

  2. Top quality headphones - The transmitters send stereo quality sounds to your LED headphones! No crackling as long as you dont wander off too far!

  3. No Noise issues - As there is no music coming out of speakers, you are less likely to have issues with noise levels or sound limiters at venues (apart from your singing) They are very popular for weddings/parties with noise restrictions so you can continue the party later!

  4. Sing or Chat with ease - The beauty of having a Silent Disco is that your can take your headphones off and have a chat without trying to shout over a DJ!

  5. Wireless fun - The transmitters have up to 500m range so you can setup the music away from the party. You may want to protect the kit or just want to keep your wannabe DJ mate Dave from hogging the playlist!

  6. It’s HILARIOUS - The videos and photos we receive from our hires are absolute gold! You will lose yourself in the moment and the music… But make sure you take your headphones off and listen to everyone singing! 😂

HOW EASY IS IT TO SET UP THE PARTY PACK?

It’s incredibly easy! The pack comes with easy to follow instructions and is ready in minutes.

  1. The transmitters need to be plugged in and turned on.

  2. The iPods connect via a lead to the transmitter.

  3. Press play on the iPod, turn the headphones and enjoy!

WHO DOES YOUR DELIVERY / COLLECTION?

We personally deliver and collect our hires, that is why we concentrate our hire services on Northamptonshire and surrounding counties only. This way, we eliminate the unfortunate cases of missed courier deliveries that some suppliers have. We have had numerous local people contact us on the day to advise their Silent Disco supplier’s courier has not delivered the hires and have assisted them.

We take the stress out of that potential situation. Occasions can be stressful enough to organise!

“Everyone danced and sung like no-one was watching! One of the best parties we’ve ever had! Thank you!”
